Looking Back at 2023 and Ahead at 2024
January 2024
2023 was eventful for Christ International Ministries. The mission team traveled to Uganda and Kenya in June to visit the churches established in both countries.
In Nigeria, CIM supported the annual camp meeting held there and also an outdoor soul-winning revival conducted by the Nigerian pastors and missionaries associated with the ministry.
CIM was able to provide financial pastoral support as needed, along with funds to assist in the building of churches, and the personal needs of those who have minimal local assistance.
There is much planned for 2024!
For a number of reasons, including the COVID outbreak and some instability in the country one year, Evangelist Hopkins and Missionary Hopkins have not been able to travel to Nigeria in a while. Although the planned December 2023 trip was postponed due to visa delays, that has been resolved and they plan to travel in January.
The CIM mission team will be going back to East Africa (Kenya and Uganda) sometime in late spring 2024.
Friday, October 11, 2024 is the date that CIM will celebrate 35 years of ministry. Please mark your calendars and plan to join CIM for what will be a joyous and memorable occasion.
News worth knowing:
Nigerian Christians are under increasing assault by Muslims in certain areas. Although no CIM church is currently involved, CIM missionaries have conducted outreach in areas that are heavily Muslim in beliefs and practices. This is the work of the church – to spread the gospel of Jesus.
There have also been attacks in Western Uganda by militants from an Islamic State-allied rebel group known as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). This group has been operating in and out of Uganda more than 20 years. All CIM churches are in Western Uganda and although no churches have been affected, church members have known people who were affected.
Despite these situations in Nigeria and Uganda, Evangelist Hopkins, Missionary Hopkins, and all who travel with the mission team are persuaded that they are called to continue these missions. There is no attitude of great bravery or any lack of concern, but team members operate with a desire to hear the voice of God and to carry out this work without fear.
